Description
**First Time At Auction**
Central Asia / Near East, Persia, Qajar Dynasty, ca. 18th to 19th century CE. An elegant bronze pitcher boasting a massive form with an arching copper handle and hand-etched with an elaborate, abstract design. Presenting a piriform body, the vessel showcases incised vegetal and arabesque decoration as it sits upon a ring-shaped foot with a tapered neck and slanted spout. The copper handle gracefully extends from the back of the spout, swooping outwards and then in, connecting to the lower part of the body and curving upwards to culminate in a pointed bulb. Size: 12.5" Diameter x 15.3" H (31.8 cm x 38.9 cm)
Provenance: ex-private Bishop Family Trust collection, the Trust of the late Bill Bishop, a noted antiquarian with shops in Scottsdale, Arizona and Allenspark, Colorado, USA, acquired before 2010

Condition
Old repairs to base with break lines and adhesive visible. Handle may have been added at a later date. Expected abrasions and scratches, commensurate with age and use. Otherwise, very nice with ample remains of incised detail.
