Raeburn Van Buren (American, 1891-1987), Early Career Illustration Art
circa 1920s, signed "R. Van Buren" lower left, pen and ink on paper showing three boys behind corn stacks smoking hand-rolled cigarettes. Sheet 22-1/4 x 18-1/8 in.; not framed.
Initially an illustrator for The Kansas City Star, is best remembered for the comic strip Abbie 'n Slats as well as his illustrations published in leading national magazines of the mid-20th century.
