World War II period German M42 helmet. Green camo paint has been brushed on over the grey base. The helmet bears hand-painted national eagles on either side. The left side features a white national eagle over an orange badge, while the right side displays a slightly smaller orange national eagle. The orange paint indicates this helmet belonged to a member of the ‘Feldgendarmerie’ or ‘Field Police’. The interior, which lacks lining, is stamped ‘hkp62 – 3543’. Obvious signs of wear, especially at the top of the helmet where the green paint has worn off.
