Herbert Matter (1904-1934) is a renowned photographer for his commercial photography, poster graphic design and printing. He lived in New York, California, France and Switzerland. This attractive early Swiss ski photo/offset poster is inscribed “Luica 1935”. (The ski poles of the young man in the upper right somewhat obliterate the 3 or the 2. I found another example of this poster that was dated 1936; so I am going to assume that rather than a 25 that’s a 35 which is somewhat obliterated by the image of the ski pole). The poster is also stamped with an ink stamp in the center next to the lady’s cheek “Para Infornes Y Billetes Wagons Lits/Cook…?...Barcelona”. The poster is also marked in the print across the bottom “Vacances Hivernales Vacances Ideales” and down at the bottom “Suiss”. The poster is in soft colors; bluish-gray, white with sort of orange highlights in some places. The center portion of the poster depicts a very attractive young lady. In the background are images of mountains and people skiing down the mountains etc. SIZE: Approx. 25” w x 40” h. Condition: CONDITION: Excellent.
