Description
Four of Leslie Eatons' Artist Signed Hobo Buffalo Nickels in Ink Signed Paper Flips. All great bust depictions. 4 of 5 are in blue ink signed paper flips. 1928, 1930, 1934, 1935, 1936. Artist signed on reverse with no further reverse modifications. The hobo nickel is a sculptural art form involving the creative modification of small-denomination coins, resulting in miniature bas reliefs. The nickel, due to its size, thickness, & relative softness, was a favored coin. However, "hobo nickel" is generic, as carvings have been made of many different denominations. Its low cost & portability made this medium particularly popular among hobos.
