Description
[MCM] UNIQUE FIND - Over 200 WOBO HEINEKEN BOTTLES. 1963. An ingenious solution combining functionality and design. A Rare Opportunity! for an intact collection of over 200 bottles to come to the market. As the story goes, Alfred Heineken in the early 60s while visiting a Caribbean island saw many bottles littering the beaches, this in part due to the fact that the island had no economic means of returning the bottles to the bottling plants. He saw, as well, the lack of affordable building materials and the scant living conditions plaguing the island’s lower-class. Envisioning a solution for these problems, he came back to Amsterdam and hired the Dutch architect John Habraken to design what he called "a brick that holds beer."The interlocking and self-aligning bottles come in two different sizes, 350 and 500 mm and with 209 of them, 120 of them 350mm and 89 of 500mm a pretty nice, good size wall can be built. It’d be the biggest (selfie) attraction to any bar/restaurant/museum in any city.
