Description
A very good 19th century Polish silver plated sugar bowl by B. Buch, the oval body decorated with twin panels of neoclassical motifs of griffons, fitted with a conforming lid with fluted detail & raised overall upon 4 foliate shaped supports, measuring 5” h x 7.5” w x 4.5” d, the underside bearing impressed marks for B. Buch Warsaw. (Buch was first established in 1809 in St. Petersburg Russia, later opening a factory in Warsaw in 1860 and were awarded the prestigious Gold Medal at the 1872 Moscow Exhibition. In 1900, they became a subsidiary of the German firm of Wurttembergische Metallwarenfabrik, WMF).
