An impressive Empire style gilt bronze writing stand
attributed to Odiot, Paris, after the model designed by Pierre-Paul Prud hon (1758-1823)
late 19th century
Surmounted by a figure of Apollo, with single frieze drawer.
height 12 3/4in (32cm); width 17 1/2in (44cm); depth 8 1/2in (21.5cm)

This lot is a copy of the famous inkstand made by Odiot in 1819 for Charles-Maurice de Talleyrand-Perigord, prince de Benevent, following the designs of Pierre-Paul Prud hon.
A nearly identical model, stamped Odiot, sold Robert de Balkany, Rome & the Cote dAzur, Christies, London, 22 March 2017, lot 133.

Condition
General marks, scratches, rubbing, toning, spotting and wear. Applied frieze decoration lifting from central drawer with bending to wires on right side. Drawer heavy and somewhat difficult to slide. With liners to horn form wells. Apollo lacking harp.
