Description
A 16th or 17th century Tibetan storage chest or trunk having a painted front panel with central cartouche depicting two dragons holding an offering bowl surrounded by a repeating kati rimo style repeating lattice pattern design. The tray top lid shows considerable losses to the original painted design and is loose and separated at one of the hinges. The sides were once painted but most of the original pigment is missing. The entire chest is clad in brass banding with original lock clasp. The interior is unfinished and shows considerable patina.
