Description
Central Asia, Tibet, ca. 19th to early 20th century CE. A cast silver bracelet with each terminal formed as a dragon's head and a teardrop-shaped turquoise stone inlaid atop each head. Between the heads, the exterior body of the bracelet is decorated with floral and vine patterns. In the center is a large flower with a pale red ovoid of coral inset into its center. The dragon is one of the Four Dignities, mythical animals that represent powerful concepts in Buddhism. The dragon is associated with the element of water, and with power. Dragons thunder in the sky with the sound of compassion. They are frequently invisible, but may choose to reveal themselves at auspicious moments. Wearable!
