First English printing of The Declaration of American Independence.- Gentleman's Magazine and Historical Chronicle (The), vol. 46 only, folding maps and plates, some pages slightly trimmed (mainly loss of margin only or touching signatures, no loss to text), p.517 soiled, modern drab cloth, 8vo, for D. Henry, 1776.
⁂ Includes the first English printing of The Declaration of American Independence (August, pp.361-362). Among those maps present are several relating to the East Coast of America: "the Country round Philadelphia, including part of New Jersey and New York" (at p.396); "the Country illustrating the late Engagement in Long Island" (at p.452); "Connecticut and Rhode Island with Long Island Sound" (at p.525); "Progress of His Majesties Armies in New York" (at p.607); as well as others, for example, "The South Pole" (at p.16).
