Leapor (Mary) Poems Upon Several Occasions. By Mrs. Leapor of Brackley in Northamptonshire, [Parts I & II], 2 vol., first editions, woodcut decorations, vol. 1 R1 with loss to lower margin, occasional light browning, subscriber's copy with book label of Caroline Anne Sabine to pastedowns, 18th & 19th century ink ownership inscriptions and notes to endpapers, contemporary calf, gilt, some splitting to joints but holding firm, some scuffing to extremities, rubbed, [Foxon p.413], 8vo, J. Roberts, 1748-51.
⁂ Rare complete, we can only find one other example of both volumes appearing together at auction. Though she disappeared into obscurity shortly after her death in 1746, Leapor is now regarded as an essential working class woman poet of the 18th century. Caroline Anne Sabine's name (as Caroline Sabin) appears in the list of subscribers in vol. 2.
