A serene portrait of a woman standing on a boardwalk with beachgoers relaxing beneath umbrellas on the sandy shore and sailboats skimming the green waters beyond. Cassigneul is best known for his portraits of stylish women rendered with vibrant hues and expressive contours that recall the works of Les Nabis - i.e. Pierre Bonnard and Edouard Vuillard - as well as other French Post-Impressionists. Jean-Pierre Cassigneul studied at l'Ecole Nationale Superieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris. In addition, Cassigneul studied with French artist Roger Chapelain-Midy. In 1952, Cassigneul had his debut solo exhibition at Galerie Lucy Krohg; he was only 17 years old. Six years later, in 1958, Cassigneul had first exhibition at the Galerie des Beaux-Arts. In 1959, Cassigneul became a member of the prestigious Salon d'Automne. Cassigneul currently resides and works in Paris. He has exhibited throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States.

Jean-Pierre Cassigneul's paintings have fetched impressive hammer prices at Sotheby's and Christie's (most notably $740,000 for "Dans la Roseraie" at Sotheby's).
