Description
This lot contains 2 door knobs and back plates from the Louis Sullivan and Dankmar Adler designed Chicago Stock Exchange building which opened in 1894 at 30 N. LaSalle St. in Chicago. Each back plate measures 8 1/4"H x 2 3/4"W and is marked "410" on the back with a clover leaf. These 2 artifacts were recovered by preservationist Richard Nickel and gifted to the consignor shortly before being killed while conducting salvage as the Stock Exchange building was being demolished on April 13, 1972.
