With floral crested top rails above upholstered arms and moulded scrolled uprights on cabriole legs, each stamped twice N Blanchard, 67cm wide x 52cm deep x 96cm high, (26in wide x 20in deep x 37 1/2in high) (2)

Jean-Nicolas Blanchard (1730-1787) was the brother of Syvain and took over his workshop in 1771, the same year he became a maître.
A comparable pair was sold by Sotheby's New York, The Estate of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, 23-26 April 1996, lot 316.

Condition
Regilt and the gesso recut. Some rubbing to the gilding, revealing the bole below.
The upholstery in good used order with a little wear. The upper section of the back of one with repairs to the silk. Some marks and scratches in areas, but good sturdy condition.
