Description
Bryan de Grineau (1883-1957) 'Le Mans 1933'
signed and dated 1933, trackside pencil drawing on paper for 'The Motor', depicting car number 15, Louis Chiron in the Alfa Romeo 8C driving thorough the Esses when leading the race, 37 x 56cm, mounted, framed and glazed.
Footnotes:
Car number 15, driven by Chiron and Cortese, completed 177 laps of the famous circuit, and had fought hard for the lead with the team of Sommer and Nuvolari in their Alfa Romeo, the cars swapping places between first and second several times until a wheel bearing collapsed in car 15, causing an accident that ended their hopes and the car was retired from the running. Sommer and Nuvolari went onto win the 1933 Le Mans race overall by finishing 233 laps in the 24 hours.
