Description
A FAUX-BOIS PORCELAIN CUP APOCRYPHAL MARK OF EMPEROR TONGZHI CHINA, LATE QING DYNASTY, CIRCA 1900 It rests on a short ring foot and has a round body with an everted rim. The outer part of the body as well as that of the foot is covered with a wood-imitation (or faux bois) glaze in orange coral tones. The base bears an apocryphal four-character mark of Emperor Tongzhi in iron red within a double square. It also bears a Jian Ding wax seal of exportation. H: 4,2 cm - D: 11,1 cm Provenance: - a private collection; - Juan Carlos Katzenstein (1925-2018), an Argentinian Diplomat, who was an Ambassador in Beijing, China, from December 6, 1975 to January 2, 1978, and later to the Holy See (Vatican) and to the Sovereign Order of Malta from 1989 to 1991 (by repute). 瓷杯,同治仿款 中国,清代,约1900 NOTE: CONDITION REPORTS AND MEASUREMENTS It is up to the bidder to satisfy themselves prior to buying as to the condition of a lot.
