Description
WYTHE CO., VALLEY OF VIRGINIA, WALNUT PUNCHED-TIN-PANELLED FOOD / PIE SAFE, rectangular top with applied cut-out gallery, above two nailed drawers and two doors, each with a large applied tin panel comprised of four joined standard-size panels hand punched with a central diapered diamond, fielded-panel ends, raised on tapered square feet. Poplar and pine secondary woods. Excellent original dry surface with outstanding patina. Tins with early, possibly original blue painted surface. Attributed to the shop of Fleming K. Rich (Wythe Co., VA, 1806-1861) and his family. Mid 19th century. 53" H, 52 3/4" W, 18 3/4" D.
