STAMPED "J.SWANN / ALEXA.", ALEXANDRIA, VIRGINIA STONEWARE JAR, salt-glazed, approximately one-gallon capacity, cylindrical form with squared rim, sharp shoulder, and incised shoulder ring band. Brushed cobalt indistinct spaced designs to shoulder. John Blake Swann (1789-aft. 1831), "Stone-Ware Manufactory" / Wilkes Street Pottery, Alexandria, VA. 1819-1822. 9 3/8" HOA, 5 7/8" D rim.
