JACKIE O'S FRAMED WHITE HOUSE FLORAL PRINTS FROM HER DRESSING ROOM ABOARD THE CHRISTINA. The Christina, owned by Aristotle Onassis and Jacqueline Onassis, was the most luxurious and well-known yacht of its time, hosting a Hollywood A-list including Elizabeth Taylor, Richard Burton, Marilyn Monroe and Frank Sinatra. The prints are from Harold Sterner's series 'White House Flower Arrangements,' issued in 1973, and are in their original vintage bamboo and gold matte frames, with mounts to the back which secured the pictures while sailing. It was President Kennedy and Jackie who change attitudes toward the White House Gardens, which until their administration had been used primarily for private enjoyment of the Presidential family. They turned them into public and press opportunities, taking advantage of the bright colors that popped when they appeared on television. For Christmas 1973, Jackie sent inscribed copies of the books containing these images to the Auchincloss side of her family.
