BOUCHERON, A 1940S RUBY, SILVER AND SILVER GILT POWDER COMPACTThe pierced gold coloured grille with butterflies amongst flowers the flower heads each set with a circular cut ruby, within a textured silver coloured surround, opening to reveal two slide release compartments, one with a mirror, the other with a compartment originally used for powder, signed Boucheron Paris, numbered BtNd 875012, stamped with French poinçons7.5cm x 5.6cm174g grossProvenance: Sale, Christies, 23rd April 2002, lot 44
Condition
The rubies are all present and correct. To open the internal sections you have to pull the hinges back so that the catch on the other side can be released. There is some slight rust to the hinge by the mirror, the mirror has perishing. The thumb piece has a square punch but it is rubbed. The box has silver control marks, the gold will be a thin layer over silver
