本幅作品為橫幅手卷形式，畫面橫向延伸，綿延出廣闊空間感。通篇以濃淡墨色表現秀麗山林美景與精緻的樓閣建築。用筆勁挺秀練，近景密樹茂林，點葉明快俐落，深淺漸層表現出明暗立體感，緩坡錯落，苔痕點點，樓閣掩映林木間，屋簷重重，迴廊蜿蜒，圍牆環繞，線條工整挺拔。遠山連綿以淡墨簡筆勾勒及渲染，若隱若現，意境幽遠。溥儒以精湛構圖與細膩筆法，純以墨色表現，達到中國山水畫筆墨之最高境界。畫卷引首為陸軍上將顧祝同所題「曠代絕藝」四字，字字珠璣，筆力勁健，神采豐潤飽滿，表達其對溥儒此幅山水佳作之最高讚譽。
顧祝同(1893 － 1987)，中華民國陸軍一級上將，字墨三，江蘇省漣水縣人，保定陸軍軍官學校第六期步兵科畢業。曾任國民政府南京警衛軍軍長、江蘇省政府主席、貴州省政府主席、抗日戰爭第三戰區司令、陸軍總司令、參謀總長、國防部長、強恕中學董事長、行政院政務委員、國防會議秘書長、總統府戰略顧問委員會副主委、中國國民黨中評委主席等要職，資歷極為豐富。
