本作以行書寫成，《憶北平故居》、《少年行》皆為臺靜農自作的思鄉之詩，抒發鄉愁懷舊情感，流露出淡淡的愁緒。通篇下筆富有力道，線條粗細變化清晰，轉折俐落，剛勁挺拔，書風遒勁，頗具個人獨特風格。
臺靜農，本姓澹臺，字伯簡，原名傳嚴，改名靜農，安徽霍邱人。為著名作家、文學評論家、書法家。曾先後執教於輔仁、齊魯、山東、廈門諸大學及四川江津女子師範學院，後為台灣大學教授。其書法廣泛涉獵金文、刻石、碑版和各家墨跡，篆、隸、草、行、楷諸體皆精，亦擅篆刻、繪畫。著有《臺靜農書藝集》及小說、散文等書出版。
