409 宋 銅漆金地藏菩薩坐像

地藏菩薩像精銅鑄造，比丘相，貌圓態豐，闊額長耳，眉如初月，眼瞼低垂，嘴角上翹，面容寧靜智慧，慈祥莊嚴。身著通肩袒右衲衣，前衣結帶，垂褡自然，右手於胸前結說法印，左手覆於膝上，背為環狀火燄紋。半跏趺坐於長方形台座之上，左腿自然下放踏著蓮花台，座下為四足二層疊澀式台階。1956 年在蘇州瑞光塔第三層塔心天宮發現，蘇州博物館庋藏宋〈銅地藏菩薩坐像〉，雖發現之初即丟失裝飾用背光，然其造形與風格，可為本品同一時期相似之例證。又北京首都博物館庋藏宋代吐蕃時期〈蓮花手菩薩像〉，背後有環狀背光，飾火燄紋及台座上層為蓮花台，下層為二層方座之技法，與本品極為相似，皆為佛教典型的造像風格。
地藏菩薩，因其「安忍不動如大地，靜慮深密如秘藏」故而得名。與觀音、文殊、普賢，成為漢傳佛教的四大菩薩之一。據佛書記載，地藏菩薩托胎為新羅國王子，生於中國唐朝武則天時期，姓金名喬覺，自幼出家。在唐玄宗時來到中國，入安徽九華山苦行修煉。由於其在無佛的「五濁惡世」（即劫濁、見濁、煩惱濁、眾生濁、命濁）中濟渡眾生，為讓眾生能深信因果，皈依三寶，而示現僧人相。台北國立故宮博物院庋藏唐〈地藏菩薩像〉、蘇州博物館庋藏宋〈銅地藏菩薩坐像〉及本件宋〈銅漆金地藏菩薩坐像〉，皆是漢傳地藏菩薩半跏趺坐姿軌跡的重要表現。本尊像造形端莊，生動寫實，全器皮殼呈現深沉靜謐的古銅及銅綠的自然沁色，其局部隱約可見當時所施泥金風采，極為古樸典雅，為宋代內地鑄造風格的造像精品。
