A George III sterling silver egg cruet, the stand London 1816 by John Edward Terry
Comprising a frame, four egg cup (London 1816 by Rebecca Emes and Edward Barnard) and four fiddle pattern egg spoons (London 1812 by Soloman Hougham). The frame of square form with re-entrant sides and an ovolo rim all raised upon four lion paw and scroll bracket feet. The galleried section formed a lion paw terminal fluted acanthus columns attached by three wing nuts underneath. The central carrying handle formed a twin canthus C scroll with a quadfurcated junction. The egg cups of conventional form with gadrooned rim. The stand engraved to the centre with a crest of a dragon’s head erased, ducally gorged, lined through the mouth, held with a clan badge engraved with motto laus deo, the egg cups engraved with the same crest. The spoons engraved with initials JMB in cursive script. Each fully marked.
