Description
A Russian silver gilt and cloisonne enamel Easter egg with stands convertible to double egg cups, Moscow, circa 1890. The exterior enameled with bands of scrolling ornament in white, red, and green within turquoise borders together with scrolls, foliage and hearts in shades of navy blue, green, cornflower blue, and white against a gilded stippled ground. The two-part egg conceals gilded feet enameled with conforming ornament that can be used to form a pair of egg cups. Struck with Latin initials F.S of an unidentified silversmith (Postnikova-Loseva no. 3033). Height: 3 in. (7.6 cm). 805-074
