Description
An early 19th century French First Republic / Empire 950 standard silver sugar vase, Paris 1798-1809 by Marc Jacquard (reg. 1798)
The square form base raised upon three anthemia feet, the vase section upon a four lion paw pedestal with a guilloche band. The open work body with a fluted base leading to pierced arches, columns of fruiting vine terminating in lion masks with fluted surrounds. The upturned scroll twin handles with male mask junctions. The pull off domed lid surmounted by a detachable budding finial with a leafy calyx. The lid with a palmette edge and engraved with a starburst of harebells. Fitted with a later removable green glass liner. Marked throughout.
