Roy Orbison's Personally Owned First Generation Colt 1911 .45 Semi-Automatic Pistol and Holster W/Notarized LOA - This first generation Colt 1911 .45 semi-automatic pistol and its accompanying leather holster were personally owned by singer-songwriter and rock and roll musician, Roy Orbison. This pistol is from the first generation of the 1911 model and is not a later model. A serial number look up suggests a year of manufacture of 1912 or 1919. The gun comes with a notarized letter of authentication from Bucky Barrett, who was Orbison's friend and guitarist. The letter states in part, "This Colt 45 Semi Automatic 1911 model w/leather holster Serial # 15XXX was given to me, Bucky Barrett, by it's owner, Roy Orbison, when he came to stay at my home. He and his wife, Barbara, were having terrible arguments and he was fearful that she might do something to him with his gun."
