Egyptian Limestone Relief Head of Hathor
Ptolemaic Period, 332-30 B.C.
Depicting a section of the full face of the Goddess Hathor, displaying large outlined eyes, cow ears, and a triangular nose.

Hathor was the goddess of women and of fertility and love. Her principal animal form was that of a cow, and she was strongly associated with motherhood. There were cults of Hathor in many towns in Egypt and numerous temple columns and façades depicting her likeness survive. Length 38 1/2 inches.
