Ancient Central Asia, Bactrian, ca. 2500 to 2250 BCE. A splendid ensemble of 66 ancient Bactrian beads, all skillfully hand-carved from agate stones and strung on a modern strand with a lobster claw clasp to be wearable. Boasting naturally striated bodies in hues of caramel, chocolate, toffee, vanilla, almond, charcoal, crimson, black, white, and gray, the beautiful beads present in varying shapes of bicone, ellipsoid, oblate, spherical, cylinder, convex rectangular, and barrel, all arranged in a lovely, alternating pattern of petite beads and huge beads in bicone and rounded convex rhomboid with lenticular cross section forms. A square tabular bead projects from the center capped by a petite cuboid bead to serve as a type of pendant. Size (strand): 25" L (63.5 cm); (largest bead): 1.7" L x 1" W (4.3 cm x 2.5 cm)
