Description
Near East, Holyland, the Levant, Syro-Hittite culture, ca. 2800 to 1500 BCE. A unique pottery altar boasting a rare form comprised of 3 avian-esque goddess heads grouped together as they gaze over the bowl-like body of the vessel, all supported by a trio of tapered legs. Projecting upwards from the ovoid rim of the altar, each of the ancient deities displays a stylized countenance with applied lips, a beak-like pinched nose, and incised, annular eyes. A veil or short coiffure crowns each head. Size: 3" L x 2.3" W x 2.4" H (7.6 cm x 5.8 cm x 6.1 cm)

Restoration to front leg of vessel. Resurfacing to heads, veils, and noses of goddesses, as well as interior basin. Surface wear as shown with nicks and abrasions commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with great earthen deposits.
