AN INDIAN MINIATURE PAINTING OF SHIVA'S FAMILY, 19TH CENTURY
India. Ink, gouache and gold on paper. Depicting Shiva and his consort Parvati seated on a tiger skin against a pillow, on a terrace, with mountains and vegetation in the foreground and background. Besides them stands their elephant-headed son, Ganesha, on the other side are two attendants, one of them with blue skin, probably the god Vishnu. From the mountains in the foreground, the head of the goat and the tiger are peering.
Provenance: Private collection, New York.
Condition: With wear, soiling, staining, losses, tears and touchups.
Dimensions: Size 36 x 25.5 cm
