A POWDER BLUE GROUND FAMILLE VERTE OVOID VASE, LATE QING DYNASTY
China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. Of slender ovoid form with a powder blue ground, decorated with ornamental reserves enclosing peonies and water lilies.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.
Condition: The vase with some wear, loss to the enamel, a repair, fine hairline cracks, and manufacturing imperfections such as pitting and glaze recesses. The cover with repairs.
Weight: 633.4 g
Dimensions: Height 25.3 (incl. the cover) and 24 cm (the vase)
With an associated, reticulated wooden lid of the same period (2).
