A BLUE AND WHITE TRANSITIONAL-STYLE BRUSHPOT, BITONG, LATE QING DYNASTY
China, Qing dynasty (1644-1912), 19th century. The bitong of cylindrical form, rising from a flat unglazed base, depicting a playful pair of qilin in a garden with a banana plant.
Provenance: Holzapfel collection, Geneva, Switzerland. This lot was acquired by second generation members of the Holzapfel family after 1990 and has remained in the family ever since.
Condition: Good condition with some wear, a crack with minor associated material loss, and manufacturing irregularities such as pitting.
