Albert Schweitzer Signed Nobel Prize Acceptance Speech
Physician, Humanitarian, Theologist, and Musician Albert Schweitzer (1875-1965) Booklet Signed, “7.2.57 Albert Schweitzer”, and inscribed, in German, to Adolph Keller on his 85th birthday in Lambarene, in black fountain pen, at the top of page 1 of his speech, "The Probleme de la Paix", translated "The Problem of Peace". The booklet, in French, measures 5.25" x 8.25" and is in very good plus condition. Accompanied by a Letter of Authenticity from JSA.
Schweitzer delivered this speech on November 4, 1954 at Oslo University upon his acceptance of the 1952 Nobel Peace Prize ”for his altruism, reverence for life, and tireless humanitarian work which has helped make the idea of brotherhood between men and nations a living one”.
During the 1950s, Schweitzer, along with Albert Einstein and others, worked against the use of nuclear weapons, founding "The Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy" in 1957.
