Measuring 10.375" x 13.25", [New York], undated. A sepia-toned studio portrait of Rudy Vallée, seated and dressed in a dark suit. Taken by photographer Hal Phyfe at his New York studio. Signed and inscribed "To Roy H. Boaz One of the finest men I have ever come to know in recording! Photographically Rudy Vallée." With Phyfe's studio stamp on verso. The photograph has light edge and corner wear with silvering along the lower edge. Soiling on verso. With a large and clear signature.
Hubert Prior Vallée (1901-1986), professionally known as Rudy Vallée, was an American singer, musician, actor, and radio host, and one of the first modern teen idol pop stars of his day. He also became one of the first crooners and was an inspiration for future singers such as Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby.
