A pair of Derby 'dry edge' models of Florentine Boars, circa 1752-55
Possibly modelled by Agostino Carlini, one standing with its head turned to the left, on a rectangular base, the other with its head turned to the right and seated on an oval base, both left in the white, the bases applied with acorns and oakleaves, 11.5cm and 12cm high (2)

The attribution of the modelling of some Derby 'dry edge' figures and animal models to Agostini Carlini is discussed by J V G Mallet, 'Agostini Carlini and Dry-Edge Derby', in British Ceramic Design 1600-2002 (2003), p.42. An entry in William Duesbury's London Account Book for 27th October 1752 reads 'I pr of Boors'.
