Description
A pair of Bohemian 'Annagrun' cut glass perfume bottles and stoppers, circa 1840-60
Of spreading form with double neck rings, cut with six broad flutes terminating in a petal-cut flange, the scalloped feet cut with a star pattern underneath, the tall spire stoppers similarly cut, 26cm high (4)
Footnotes:
Josef Riedl purportedly named this so-called Uranium glass after his wife Anna, calling it Annagrun and Annagelb. Similar colours were subsequently made by other glassworks and safer substitutes were developed to replace uranium oxide.
