A Battersea enamel plaque, circa 1753-56
Of rectangular form, printed in red after Boucher with 'La Toilette Pastorale', engraved by Ravenet, Venus with a young attendant dressing her hair, the goddess dressed only in flowing drapery, a dog and two putti at her feet, in a tooled gilt metal frame, 11.6cm x 9.5cm including frame

Condition
There are a just a few fine cracks in the top right hand corner of the plaque, and another in the bottom left hand corner where there are also two tiny chips just visible under the mount. There is a short and fine crack running from edge of the plaque at the top. The printed area is unaffected by the cracks. Examination of the reverse of the plaque shows a small chip to the bottom right hand corner and a few fine and short cracking running in from the edge.
