A FINE COLLABORATION BETWEEN TWO OF THE GREAT LITERARY AND ARTISTIC FIGURES OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY - ONE OF ONLY 250 COPIES SIGNED BY BOTH JOYCE AND MATISSE. In their Newsletter No. 77 (October 1935), the Limited Editions Club explained that due to failing eyesight Joyce could only be persuaded to sign 250 copies so as to nurse 'what vision remains to him in order to complete his highly important Work in Progress'. These copies were sold to Club members for a 'special extra fee of five dollars... [as] those few copies which are signed by James Joyce himself must inevitably become highly prized'.
