Electrotype Reproduction of a 16th Century German Tazza, Elkington & Co.
19th century, English, gold over copper, the interior of dish with finely detailed bas relief mythological narrative scene of Diana and Actaeon from Ovid's Metamorphoses, the underside with Green Man mask and cornucopia cartouches, supported by a caryatid and mask column with ornate patterned round foot, with heraldic mark to underside.
7 1/4 x 8 1/8 in. diameter
A near identical reproduction of the tazza (standing dish) by Jacob Schenauer, circa 1580-1590, in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum in London.
