Description
Native American, Midwestern United States, Missouri, Webster County, Transitional Paleo-Indian Period, ca. 8500 to 7500 BCE (10,500 to 9,500 BP). A remarkable projectile point hand-knapped from fossil chert to present as a Cumberland Unfluted type. Boasting mottled hues of beige and tan, the arrowhead presents an auriculate lanceolate form with a median ridge on 1 side created via random and collateral flaking. The blade is outward recurvate, narrowing at the waist and flaring out to a concave base. Size (point): 3.5" L x 0.9" W (8.9 cm x 2.3 cm); (Riker case): 12.3" L x 8.3" W (31.2 cm x 21.1 cm)
