Description
Greece, Corinth, Corinthian culture, ca. first half of the 6th century BCE. A delightful pottery aryballos hand-painted with 2 confronting roosters divided by a pair of flowers, all in black and maroon pigments on a beige ground with meticulously incised details. The teardrop-form vessel rests upon a round yet stable base displaying a classic silhouette with an attenuated neck, a flared rim, and a petite, lug handle. Additional black and maroon pigments further adorn the dish with vertical striations lining the neck, polka-dots along the periphery of the rim, and a ray motif on the rim's top. Size: 2.2" Diameter x 3.6" H (5.6 cm x 9.1 cm)

Professionally repaired with some break lines visible. Restoration and repainting in areas. Losses and chipping to rim. Expected nicks and abrasions, commensurate with age. Otherwise, very nice with great remaining pigments and nice earthen deposits.
