Description
19thc Chinese blue & white dragon plate, Sothebys Provenance
Guanxu Reign (Qing Dynasty) marks
Diameter: 13.5"
Davids notes: The round brown sticker on the piece with the black initials SPB refer to the auction house Sotheby Parke Bernet. It appears to be an early style lot label, the type used in the 1960s when Sothebys was located on Madison Avenue, around 77th street.
Note: All but the last photo were taken outside in natural light.
No damage! No repairs! No restoration!!!
We guarantee excellent condition. There is a tiny tiny nick on the rim where you see some yellow nicotine from cigarette smoke that was in the estate(there was a smoker), see the photos. Some people would call that damage, some would say that is nothing. The nick is in the white glaze but does not even reach the porcelain body of the piece.
This charger was in the same NYC apt for around 75 to 100 years, on the upper east side of Manhattan. Private family.
This plate (or charger as it is sometimes called) is very very heavy. Feels heavy like lead.
