1976 American-Israel Numismatic Association Six Medal Design Trial "Process Set" with a George Washington Portrait central design, Set of Six U.S. Bicentennial Medals, Choice Mint State.
A wonderful, rare Trial Set of Six Medals. Design of Obverse: Left facing bust of George Washington, his facsimile signature below, surrounded by the Inscription; "TO BIGOTRY NO SANCTION / TO PERSECUTION NO ASSISTANCE". Design of Reverse: Emblem of the "AINA" flanked by the bicentennial dates: "1776 / 1976" and the Inscription "AMERICAN REVOLUTION / BICENTENNIAL" above and below. The finished medals were 37.5 mm and were produced in antiqued bronze. This Set has four "progressive" strikes of the unfinished medal, and two "final" strikes showing the stages in the application of the patina on the completed medals. These rare 1976 six-piece Process Set for the George Washington Bicentennial Medal that was issued by American-Israel Numismatic Association. This Process Set demonstrates how a High-relief Art medal is produced from inception. First is the blank, then it's after the blank has been struck once, twice and three times; then planchet is trimmed, antiqued, and finished. All done under the watchful eyes of Medallic Art Company. A rare Process Set of a scarce medal and a great collectible for George Washington. (6 items).
