Handsome Benjamin Franklin Polychrome Enamel Victorian Era Staffordshire Standing Figure on "FRANKLIN" Base
c. 1860 to 1876 BENJAMIN FRANKLIN Colorful Polychrome Enamel Victorian Era Patriotic Staffordshire figure titled, "FRANKLIN" on its base, Choice Extremely Fine.
Historic Benjamin Franklin English Staffordshire Figure produced in England for export sale to America. This example measures about 14" tall including its 4.75" wide base. This standing pose brightly polychrome figure is titled "FRANKLIN" in large letters on its base. He is shown with his Tricorne (Tri-corner) hat under left arm while holding a document in right hand. This figure is standing, wearing a decorative fancy colorful dotted white waistcoat with gold gilt breeches and Colonial style black shoes. Similar to but larger and more impressive that most other Ben Franklin ceramics, here having rosy cheeks, red lips, and sharply detailed facial features. Design type listed in Arman as AI.15, shown illustrated on page 233 of "ANGLO-AMERICAN CERAMICS, Part 1" authored by David and Linda Arman, published in 1998, there over two decades ago being listed with a value of $1,250 to $2,000. This superb "Franklin" is a great looking highly colorful, premium quality figure ready to display.
