May 29, 1964-Dated First Day JFK Memorial Postal Cover, Inscribed and Signed, "To: Kent James Leavelle" in the address portion of a commemorative envelope with a 5C JFK Commemorative Stamp affixed at upper right, with a lined "First Day of Issue" cancellation. Measures 3.5" x 6.5". James Robert Leavelle (August 23, 1920 " August 29, 2019) was a Dallas Police Department homicide detective who, on November 24, 1963, was escorting John F. Kennedy assassin Lee Harvey Oswald through the basement of Dallas Police headquarters when Oswald was shot by Jack Ruby. Several photographs"including one that won a Pulitzer Prize"were taken of Oswald just before and as Ruby pulled the trigger. Authentic autograph in ink First Day Cover. Fine condition.
