These panels were printed in 1966 using the original paintings of 1964 as their basis. Each panel measures 19.75" x 24".Roy Lichtenstein (1923 - 1997) was one of the most influential artists involved in the Pop Art and New Art movements. The Pop Art movement emerged in both the US and the United Kingdom in the mid to late 1950's, with its aim focused on to presenting a challenge to the mainstream traditions of fine art. Lichtenstein's paintings closely and purposely appropriate the imagery and style of comic strips. Through his works, Lichtenstein unveils an interest in solving pictorial problems as well as a rich dialogue within forms. His close consideration of the comic style reinvigorated the American Art scene and helped alter the history of Modern Art. Lichtenstein described Pop Art as, "not 'American' painting but actually industrial painting". His works appear in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, National Gallery of Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum in Washington, DC.These are three separate lithographs not individually signed by the artist. Each print is on heavyweight paper and in excellent condition.. Printed by Drukkerj Luii & Co., Amsterdam. Published by the Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam.
