From the Archives of askART: Walter Ernest Tittle was born in Sprinfield, Ohio on October 9, 1883. Tittle studied at the New York School of Art and Art Students League under Chase, Henri, and Mora. As well as an artist, he was also a writer who contributed to Century magazine, Scribner's, and Illustrated London News. In the 1950s he was in Danbury, Connecticut and later settled on the Monterey Peninsula. He died in Carmel, CA on March 27, 1966.
