Description
Attributed to Maria Longworth Nichols Storer (1849-1932) for Rookwood Pottery
tall earthenware Limoges style vase divided into three panels by diagonal bands
Cincinnati, Ohio, 1883
high glazed ceramic
impressed factory marks
10 1/2"dia x 20 1/8"h
Catalog Note:
Two of the panels contain blue-eyed "Nichols" dragons and, in the third, an uncomfortable looking pelican. The diagonal bands and one at the rim are done with Fanny Auckland-style nailhead patterns covered in fired on gold. This is another fine example of Nichols' interpretation of a Japanese aesthetic.
